What to Pack for Your Child in the Morning
— Masks: Your child must wear a clean mask each day, preferably a disposable 3-ply masks. They should be wearing it when they enter the carline for the screening process. PLEASE LABEL MASKS if it is an approved cloth mask. See The Glen’s updated guidance for masks here.
— Apply Sunscreen before arriving at The Glen
— Water Bottles: Children may bring their own water bottle since the water fountains are not available. We highly recommend a non-spill bottle. PLEASE LABEL WATER BOTTLES.
— Summer Camp Lunch: Children will not have access to a microwave. Please pack a thermos if you want to pack something warm for your child. Please send containers that your children can open by themselves. PLEASE LABEL LUNCH BOXES AND CONTAINERS.
—Birth to Three lunch will stay consistent with the academic year – no changes.
— Weekly: International campers who nap will be permitted to bring a small blanket weekly. Nap supplies will be provided for Birth to Three students.
Drop-off (Arrival) and Pick-up (Dismissal) Procedures
— Both drop-off and pick-up will be carline only. Parents may not park and escort their children into the school.
— We are staggering arrival and dismissal times to minimize the number of children entering and exiting at one time. We know this is not ideal and wish we could offer longer hours, but all of this is in the interest of the health and safety of our staff, students, and families.
— Each family will be assigned a drop-off and a pick-up time slot. See the Montessori Minute for your time slot, based on the age of your youngest child. Please adhere to your assigned drop-off and pick-up time. Not adhering to your time is contrary to our goal of staying open safely for as long as we can, because it will create more cross-classroom exposure and increase the possibility for the spread of COVID.
— If you arrive after the carline please park and escort your child to the front of the school. There, you must wait outside for a staff member to do a health screen and check your attestation form. Then your child may enter the building.
Reach out to your teacher if you have any questions about your time slots.
Prior to Drop-off/Attestation Forms
— Each day, your family will need to fill out an Attestation Form. Use the form that reflects your youngest child’s age (and carline door – see below). Be sure to include the names of all your other children at The Glen:
— The Attestation Form MUST be completed prior to drop-off, or we will not be able to take your child. You will have to pull out of the carline, park, and fill out the form before we can receive your child.
— You will drop all your children off in the carline of your youngest child.
— Birth to Three: Main door (Governer’s Drive)
— International Summer Camp: Rear door on the north side of the building (nearest the Vet’s office)
— DO NOT GET OUT OF YOUR CAR DURING DROP-OFF! Adults and children over the age of two must be wearing a mask when a staff member approaches your car.
— Your child will be screened while still in the car. Once they pass the screening, the staff member will have them get out of the car, ensure they have their mask on appropriately, and then they will be permitted to go straight to their classroom. Here is a video of the screening process, though it will now be conducted in your car.
— NO FOOD! Your child may not have food in their hands during screening and will not be permitted to take anything inside with them except their lunchbox.
— If you arrive after your assigned car line time slot, you must park your car and walk your child to the front door. There, you must wait outside for a staff member to do a health screening and check your attestation form. Then your child may enter the building. This may take several minutes as staff will be escorting children to their classrooms at this time.
Half-day or Early Dismissal Procedure:
Half-day dismissal is scheduled for 12:00 PM; Early dismissal is any time prior to your assigned car-line time for full-day students.
— Parents should either call the office at 412-318-4885 when they arrive or ring the front doorbell.
— You will be asked to wait outside the building at the front entrance. Your child and their belongings will be brought out to you at the main front door.
Dismissal for Full-day Students
— Dismissal is staggered, similar to drop-off, and will be assigned. See the weekly Montessori Minute for your assigned time slot, based on the age of your youngest child.
— You will pick up your children in the same carline as you dropped them off. See drop-off locations above.
— Your children will be walked to your car.
— Parents must ensure children are buckled in before leaving.
