Dedication of Mosaic in Memory of Glen Student
In May 2021, The Glen dedicated a stunning Tree of Life mosaic in honor and memory of our beloved student, Ariel Silvaggio. Ariel was a student at our school from infancy through her passing in 2nd grade due to acute lymphoblastic leukemia.
Under the guidance and generosity of Songbird Artistry, The Glen community created a beautiful glass mosaic at the 2020 Spaghetti Dinner. Each person could place one or more mosaic pieces, with her mom Sonya, dad Greg, and sister Josie, making the pink butterfly – one of Ariel’s favorite colors and images. It is permanently on display in our school lobby.
The Glen is proud to honor Ariel’s memory and spirit by continuing to help other children in need with the Ariel Silvaggio Memorial Scholarship, created in partnership with Vitalant. Blood donations were critical to Ariel’s care; through this opportunity, donors can honor both children in need of life-saving blood products and support students whose families are struggling to afford private school tuition.
To participate, blood donors designate The Glen Montessori School (use code # OsØ1Ø1Ø9 at donation site). To make a blood donation, please sign up at Vitalant/The Glen Montessori School; if you are unable to donate blood or would like to support the Ariel Silvaggio Memorial Scholarship Fund, please make a tax-deductible donation to The Glen.
A special thank you to Debbie Jacknin from Songbird Artistry and Vitalant for helping The Glen honor Ariel’s fighting spirit.
