Renovations and Updates at The Glen
Summer is a bustling time at The Glen! Our International Summer Camp is in full swing, and we are enhancing nearly every part of our building! With fewer children in the school, these are the ideal months to bring in the contractors, paving the way for a more functional and modern learning environment.
This summer, Mr. Jack is coordinating the following renovations:
Lockers have been removed from all classrooms! Framing and drywall have been started to install cabinets and counters, providing usable storage and functional classroom space!
The remaining carpet has been removed in the final two classrooms, and we are making significant progress with the flooring installation for classrooms 101 and 102 (Upper Elementary), which is on track for completion soon.
The concrete walkway that leads to the boiler room at the rear of the building has been repaired; the project has been completed. The concrete in the front of the building (sidewalks) will be replaced in July.
A recent storm damaged the shed in the corner of the parking lot beyond repair. It has been dismantled and removed, and its contents were moved to storage at 105 Sharrs Lane.
The ceiling tiles on the 1st-floor and 2nd-floor hallways (outside the office) have been replaced!
The art room is also being moved to the ground floor and will take over the cafeteria space. It will have accessible running water and more space for our growing Specials programming. The Spanish room has been moved to the first floor.
Room 104 renovations are close to completion, including installing a new Birth-to-Three bathroom with child-sized sinks and toilets, which will strengthen the development of independence for our youngest students.
The initial concept planning phase for the outdoor classroom space on the 107 Schars property has been completed. The next phase will involve detailed structural planning and construction. We will share more details as our plans unfold.
Glen donors and investments by The Glen Board of Directors make these renovations and facility improvements possible!
