Parking Lot Safety — Protecting Our Children

Parking Lot Safety – Protecting Our Children
The safety of our children is our top priority at all times. Recently, there have been a few accidents involving members of The Glen community, as well as several near-misses (thankfully, not on Glen property). This is a good reminder for all of us to be extra careful when arriving and leaving school.
Here are some important guidelines to help keep every child safe:
When approaching the school from Perry Highway:
Please obey all traffic laws.
Never pass on the right.
Do not drive into oncoming traffic to turn left into The Glen driveway.
Once on the Glen property:
Please put your phone away—no talking, texting, or hands-free calls.
Drive slowly and watch carefully for children, parents, and faculty.
During Car Line:
Have your child ready to exit the car (with bags packed and breakfast finished).
Pull your vehicle as far forward as possible to keep cars off Perry Highway.
Place your car in park and wait for a faculty member to assist your child out of the vehicle.
Stay in your car—our staff will help your child.
Once you see your child safely on the building side of the car, you may carefully drive forward.
Exit the lot by taking turns with cars in the other car line and with traffic on Perry Highway.
If you are waiting on Perry Highway, please allow cars to exit the Glen driveway so traffic keeps moving.
Before-school drop-off & After-school pick-up:
Park only in designated spaces. Do not park in “No Parking” areas, especially the northeast corner of the building.
Hold your child’s hand between your car and the school door.
Always use the marked crosswalk at the rear of the building.
When walking through the back lot, stay close to the school building whenever possible.
