The Glen Goes to Boot Camp!
Summer is a time for teachers to brush up on the latest and greatest in guiding Glen students on their academic journey. A team of devoted Gleneducators (including a volunteer!) is attending Maker Educator Boot Camp at the Pittsburgh Children’s Museum this week.
The Montessori pedagogy and that of Maker education are full of similarities — emphasis on student-centric inquiry in a carefully prepared environment that will lead a child into exploration, creativity, innovation, and collaboration. The Elementary After-School Program will continue to focus on STEM education this year, and in particular, emphasize the Maker education experiences that our faculty explored this summer. Look for students to design (engineer) solutions to everyday problems with wood, PVC pipe and more! Watch social media this fall for student works in progress!
Special Thanks to the Pittsburgh Children’s Museum and Remake Learning for helping to make this happen.
