Grandparents & Gourds: A Fun Fall Event for Grandparents and Grandchildren

Grandparents and Gourds – Pumpkin Decorating
Thursday, October 15, 2026
5:30 – 7:00 PM
The Glen Montessori School Lower Level

Registration Details will be available in early to mid-September!

Join us for Grandparents & Gourds, a heartwarming fall event that brings grandparents and grandchildren together for an afternoon of creativity, fun, and memories. This family-friendly autumn celebration features pumpkin decorating, hands-on pumpkin crafts, exciting fall-themed activities, and snacks (not dinner!) that encourage connection across generations.

Children and their grandparents will work side by side to create unique pumpkin masterpieces (1:1 ratio, please, if you plan to carve a pumpkin!)  while enjoying seasonal treats and special photo opportunities.

Grandparents & Gourds offers the perfect opportunity to laugh, create, and make cherished memories that will last long after the pumpkins are put away.

A Few Helpful Notes Before You Register

To help everyone have a safe, fun, and memorable experience at Grandparents & Gourds, please review the following information before registering:

—  Pumpkin Carving Supervision: Children who wish to carve a pumpkin must be accompanied by one grandparent or special adult guest per child during the carving activity.

—  School Pick-Up Authorization: If a grandparent or special guest will be picking up a Glen student from school, they must be listed as an authorized pick-up person on the student’s Emergency Contact Form. Parents can review and update this information through the Parent Portal > Admissions & Enrollment Portal (FinalSite Enrollment).

—  Age Recommendations: While all current Glen students are welcome, activities are designed primarily for children 18 months to 8 years old. To keep the event focused on our students, siblings and children not enrolled at The Glen may not attend.

—  Dress for Messy Fun: Pumpkin decorating, carving, and fall art projects can be messy. Please wear clothing that can get dirty or stained, as smocks will be limited.

—  Special Guests Welcome: No grandparent available? An aunt, uncle, family friend, or another special adult from a different generation is welcome to join the fun.

—  Refund Policy: Event supplies are purchased in advance, so we are unable to offer refunds for illness or other cancellations.

—  Accessibility Information: Our historic building was constructed before many modern accessibility accommodations were common. If you need assistance navigating approximately 15 stairs, please contact Ms. Luisa at ltrapizona@glenmontessori.org no later than October 9 to discuss available options.

—  Financial Assistance: We want every family to feel welcome. If the registration fee presents a financial hardship, please contact Marcia at mfischer@glenmontessori.org for a confidential conversation.

—  Volunteer Opportunity: While this is a special grandparent and grandchild event, we welcome a few parent volunteers to assist with check-in, refreshments, activity stations, and event logistics. To volunteer, please email Marcia at mfischer@glenmontessori.org.

We look forward to celebrating fall, creating pumpkin masterpieces, and making special memories together at Grandparents & Gourds!
