    Health Policy

    health and safety
    10Apr, 2023
    Share
  • Revised March 2024

If a Glen student or staff member experiences symptoms of an illness, including a fever (100.4°F or greater), cough, shortness of breath or difficulty breathing, unusual fatigue, muscle or body aches, headache, loss of taste or smell, sore throat, congestion or runny nose, conjunctivitis, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea or other symptoms that are out of character for the child and that prohibit the child from participating normally, they are expected to be kept at home, or, if symptoms develop during the day, they will be sent home.

Returning to in-person education on The Glen’s campus:

Students and staff must be symptom-free* for 24 hours, be able to participate normally* in school activities.

If your child develops a contagious disease such as influenza, COVID-19, measles, fifth disease, pink eye, mumps, strep throat, or chickenpox, please contact the school immediately so the Health Department and other parents can be notified.  Failure to report an infectious disease endangers the health and safety of other children and teachers.  It will not be tolerated and may result in unnecessary classroom closures due to potential exposure/illness for students and faculty.

If your child is exposed to COVID-19 or tests positive, as with any infectious disease, The Glen requires the individual to follow CDC guidelines.

If you have any questions or concerns about the ability to return to school, please reach out to your child’s teacher.

*Regardless of their diagnosis, all students need to be symptom-free and able to participate normally in activities when they return to school. If your child is sent home from school Monday through Thursday, they must remain home for at least one additional school day before returning.
