Celebrating 40 Years of The Glen Montessori School
On August 11, 1986, The Glen Montessori School officially became a nonprofit organization—a dream shared by six Sewickley Valley mothers who wanted something special for their children: a Montessori education that would allow them to grow, explore, and learn in their own way.
Those founding mothers believed in the child at the heart of Montessori: curious, capable, independent, and wonderfully unique. They also understood that children thrive when families and teachers work together—when each child is known, supported, and encouraged to discover who they are and what they can do.
That first fall, 15 children walked through The Glen’s doors at St. Mary’s Church, now Divine Redeemer Parish. By the following year, enrollment had grown to 48 students. With each new classroom, family, and generation of students, The Glen Montessori community continued to grow.
Growing with Our Children
In 2001, The Glen moved to a larger home in Emsworth, giving children more room to learn, play, explore the outdoors, and grow together.
In 2012, The Glen found its permanent home in the former Perrysville Elementary School in Ross Township. The new campus created even more opportunities for children with expanded classrooms, a gymnasium, art room, music studio, and additional outdoor spaces.
In 2013, we celebrated our first Sixth Grade graduates. In 2026, we reached another milestone, welcoming Middle School students. From those first 15 students to today’s community of 250 children, spanning from toddlers through middle school, The Glen has grown in so many ways.
Yet through every chapter, what matters most has remained the same: the children at the heart of all we do.
40 Years of Montessori at The Glen
As we celebrate 40 years, we are grateful f40or every child who has walked through The Glen’s doors, every teacher who has guided a child along their path, every family who has placed their trust in us, our Board of Directors, and everyone who has helped make this community what it is today.
Forty years of learning.
Forty years of growing.
Forty years of The Glen.
And the best part? There are still so many possibilities ahead.
