Did you know that 1 in 7 patients entering the hospital will need a blood product to offer hope? The Glen community learned this first hand in 2017 when one of our students, Ariel Silvaggio, was diagnosed with very high-risk acute lymphoblastic leukemia just before her Kindergarten year. Over the next 2½ years of her journey, Ariel received countless blood products critical to her care.
The Glen mobilized into action to support her treatment and began offering periodic blood drives to raise awareness and resources for this crucial need in our community. Today, our blood drives continue to honor Ariel’s memory and her nurturing spirit.
The Glen Montessori Blood Drive provides a convenient way for blood donors to help children in need of life-saving blood products and support students whose families are struggling to afford child care or private school tuition.
Through our partnership with Vitalant, we have established the Ariel Silvaggio Memorial Scholarship, where donors can designate The Glen Montessori School (use code # OsØ1Ø1Ø9 when registering or when making your donation).
